Changing mental health for good

Liz applied for the award so it could facilitate her to continue her studies in abstract painting at College. Making art keeps Liz grounded, gives her a positive focus and allows her to express herself; Liz was awarded £200 in 2023.

“I am inspired by nature, and images of plants, flowers, trees, leaves and butterflies are important to me….particularly important for me are themes around growth of plants from seeds. They grow from almost nothing, in the most inhospitable of places, through wind, rain and storm, until flowers emerge, making a beautiful display. When nurtured they persevere, and with kindness they thrive…”

The SANE Creative Awards Scheme in collaboration with The Open University, aims to improve the quality of life for those with mental health conditions, their families and carers, by helping them to fulfil their creative potential.

25% of all sale profits go directly to the artists and the rest will be spread across SANEline services; training of Volunteers and furthering the work of the SANE Creative Award Scheme.
